My timid body was lying helplessly on bed. I was awaiting for this unsurpassable agony engulfed time to pass swiftly.

Both of us were beaming jubilantly and were in exuberant spirits as Paul’s phone started ringing. His ebullient face was replaced with a look of consternation then again replaced with a smile that gave me the chills. I wanted that smile to disappear as it discomforted me. He looked up at me with an apologetic look and apprised me that he had some urgent work to attend to and would meet me at home. I tried pleading with him as it was dead in the night. Paul explained that this could not wait and vowed he would be back before I knew it. I agreed reluctantly and went on my way with the car.
I had almost reached when a figure clad in a black coat appeared out of the darkness and I almost ran over him. I swerved the car quickly and pulled over. I was yet out of breath when the figure started making its way towards me. Gripping the steering , I braced myself for the worst. However the figure was an old woman with a high pitched voice along with a despondent tale about how she was abandoned and needed to reach home. I resolved to lend her a helping hand convincing myself I was doing a noble act. Attempting to start a conversation, I asked her some questions about her life but was always rewarded with tight lipped one worded answers. Finally giving up, I turned the radio on to the news channel. The car was overwhelmed with incessant repetitive news until after sometime there was an urgent announcement. It was about a psycho killer being on the lose. I was paralyzed with trepidation hearing this announcement and desiderated to reach home as quickly as possible . The description of the killer was that he was dressed in a black coat . I drew in a quick breath and kept repeating that this can not be possible trying to convince and pacify myself. I suddenly coveted to be cognizant of the lady’s identity who surprisingly had no reaction to this. I got the chills again as the figure looked down and smiled. That smile.
