The humongous ball of fire hung like a photo in the prodigious sky. It was cool and breezy. A volery of birds were perched on a tree. Their chirps resonated everywhere.
I stretched my indolent arms and yawned as loudly as a lion’s roar. I yawned again but this time like a soft kitten’s adorable yawn. I scratched my head like monkey wondering what day it was when it struck me lightning that today was my Athletics competition. I had to reach there at 8 :00 and I was already late. I sprinted like a deer and stormed into my bathroom like a hurricane. Fortunately, I reached exactly at 8:00 and that’s when they gave the last call for the U-12 runners. My heart skipped a beat and I had butterflies in my stomach. My parents and teachers were looking at me. We lined up and everyone got ready. The referee blew the whistle and everyone darted like a stud of horses. I ran and came first. I was jubilant. After a few more races, they started they started the prize distribution ceremony. I was aghast when they announced that I stood second. Just then the judges said that they had made a mistake and told that I had stood first. I was as proud as a peacock. My mom praised me and I won a golden trophy. It was a memorable day.
